The Fjall sweater has a bit of a story. I first saw this pattern and sweater a few years ago when Kate of the Last Homely House Youtube Podcast (I linked the video with the Fjall sweater!) made one for her granddaughter. I loved it. It is super simple with just a little dab of colorwork in the yoke, bottom hem and sleeve cuffs. The gauge is perfect for a worsted weight yarn so I immediately thought of our Home Worsted which is soft and colorful.

So a couple of summers ago I used a bunch of leftovers in Home Worsted and made my one-year-old granddaughter a sweet pink version of the Fjall sweater. I made the smallest size in the pattern and it was quite big on her but the advantage to that is she is still wearing it almost a couple of years later. The pattern is so simple. It is a top-down yoke-style sweater worked seamlessly. It goes fast!

Every time my granddaughter is in a photo wearing her blush pink Fjall sweater we get asked about it, mainly what is the pattern and will we have kits? The answers are in... yes and yes!

So today, with express permission from the designer Sarah Berry of North Child, we are offering Fjall Sweater Kits in two colorways. Thank you, Sarah, for your beautiful pattern, and for allowing us to create these beautiful long-awaited kits.

Here is a little kit information you might like to know:

* There are four sizes from which to choose S (M, L, XL). Finished chest circumference 25.5 (27, 19, 30.5) inches. I looked up the sizes in inches to a sizing chart for kids (T means toddler) and here are my rough estimates for size with some extra ease: 3/4T (5, 6, 7/8). My two-year old granddaughter is wearing the 3/4T size now and it fits her great.

* Choose the size you would like to make when ordering, the sizes come with a different amount of yarn, except the two largest sizes use the same amount of the main color. If you aren’t sure between the sizes please order the bigger size. For all sizes you will have extra yarn at the end so we are throwing in the Stripey Point Hat pattern for FREE to help use up your leftovers and to make a cute hat to wear with the sweater.

* I used a US size 7 needle throughout the sweater to get the gauge of 20 sts per inch. Make sure you check your gauge.

* We have two kit colorways: For the Main Color choose between Strawflower (blush pink) or Stationery (a mix between oatmeal and gray). I am making the Stationery version for my grandson right now! It’s so cute.

The Contrast Colors are the same for each of the two colorway versions: Iris (bright orchid purple), Red Flannel (red), Bluff (medium blue), Field (mustard green), Morning Sky (icy light blue), Scout (deep teal), and March Wind (medium gray). You can mix these colors around any way you like. Have fun creating your own color combos.

You get enough of our Home Worsted to make one sweater.

* The kit comes packed in a hand-stamped cotton project bag with an illustrated tag by Susan.

IMPORTANT Pattern Note: The pattern is NOT INCLUDED with the kit. Please purchase the pattern directly from Sarah here on Ravelry or on Etsy!

I think you’ll love knitting the Fjall sweater for all of the little ones in your life. I see many more in my future knitting plans. I’ll share more about the Stationery Fjall sweater I’m working on for my grandson as soon as I finish it.
