As soon as we received the shipment of our new Home Bulky Twist, I knew I had to knit a cozy bulky weight cardigan using this yarn. As I was looking around I wasn’t finding the perfect pattern but that same day Denise Bayron’s new Wave of Change Jacket popped up in my Instagram feed. I love Denise’s style so much and this jacket is the perfect choice for Home Bulky Twist, plus a big bonus is that it is a very simple and very clear and well-written step-by-step pattern. With Denise's permission, we have created a beautiful marled kit for her jacket.

If you haven’t made a sweater or cardigan before and you’ve been longing to, I can honestly say and highly recommend that this is the project for you! For experienced sweater knitters, there could not be a quicker, more satisfying project.

The size range is very inclusive, ranging from a 36-inch to 63-inch bust. I used the same needle sizes recommended in the pattern to get the gauge with the Home Bulky Twist. I made the second size, the 40-inch bust.

I made a few modifications that I detailed on the BWC Journal, including adding buttons. Click here to read my modifications for the Wave of Change Jacket! It is perfect as written, too.

Buttons

We have Black Walnut Buttons available in our Mercantile here.

Susan's sweater has 6 buttons for reference. These are not included in the kit.

Sizing

Please check the sizing listed below. Denise also suggests if you want to add length that you need more yarn. Please order a size up in the kit OR add an extra skein to your order from the yarn shop. Click here to go to the Home Bulky Twist page!

Construction from Denise Bayron:

The jacket is worked flat and seamlessly from the top down. Circular needles are recommended to hold the weight and width of the stitches. It is designed to fit as a layering piece with a boxy and slightly cropped silhouette. You can, of course, knit the body to your desired length. Suggestions for lengthening are included. A two-inch button(less) band is picked up along each front. Sew-on snaps will keep your jacket closed, while allowing the waves to flow without interruption. Lastly, the sleeves are knit in the round using either magic loop or DPNs.

A video tutorial for picking up stitches for the button bands is included.

SIZES
