I have a super-fun new pattern in the Making Gift Vol. 3 issue that just was released.  It is the best Gifts collection yet from Making.

Here is my pattern introduction with the explanation for the name and design inception:

"I have wanted to make this winter-season pixie for several years now and I am thrilled to finally do so here. My daughter had a friend from Amsterdam and at the inception of this project idea, I asked him how to say elf in Dutch. He told me Elfje means little elf or pixie in Dutch, said like Elf-ya. I loved the name immediately. I also love this lanky elf and for some reason every time you knit one it turns out to have a different personality. You’ll see what I mean. Be careful because knitting an Elfje is addicting and you may have to make more than one.”

The adorable and funny Elfje is about 9.5-inches in height from the tip of the pointy boot to the top of the pointy hat. The yarn is sport weight and I used a US size 3 needle to get gauge.

The Elfje Kit is just phenomenal! We are so proud to offer you 6 custom skeins of our sport weight Wisconsin Woolen Spun yarn in the colors Birch (creamy white), Blushing (the lightest touch of pink), Jam (red), Caramel (tan), Branch (brown), and Stone (heathered dark gray). This yarn is wooly and springy and really just the best. You will love it. You get enough yarn to make four, if not more by switching the colors around, of the Elfje.

Included in the kit are two linen scarves, one red, one natural, be sure to scrunch and crinkle it up before tying it around the neck of your little elf. And you get a cut length of candy cane baker’s twine. It all comes packed in a printed cotton and tagged project bag.

Important Pattern Note: The pattern is only available right now in the Making Gifts Vol. 3 issue. This issue is available digitally only on the Making website.

A quick note about the Making Gifts Vol. 3 issue, there are so many wonderful patterns included like a shawl, mitts, needle felting, socks, a cowl, gift wrapping ideas, a drawstring bag, and a fantastic garter stitch vest by Carrie Bostick Hoge! I am making this vest in our Home Bulky Twist coming up very shortly. I may make multiple versions with our gorgeous artisan buttons. Can’t wait and maybe you’ll want to join me.

It’s all absolutely beautifully created and photographed by the Making team, as always.
