What can I say, I am a true fan of Amy Christoffers’ designs. So we are having another Amy feature this week. I am trying to think of how to describe some of her colorwork designs beyond saying that they’re interesting. The colorwork Amy creates is interesting, it’s true, but they also make you look a little harder and closer, some are slightly unpredictable, some are surprising, and all are so beautiful. I love her work. Anway, you know how I feel and the Lwcus Hat doesn’t disappoint.
Go follow Amy’s Instagram here. She’s really amazing.
The Lwcus Hat stays true to course for Amy. When I saw this hat it reminded me of a quilt pattern but in an unusual sort of way. I just love the colorwork here, the slightly quirky color combination, and I always love the fit of Amy’s hat designs. The bonus here is that I knew our Woolens sport-weight yarn would be a perfect fit for the Lwcus Hat pattern. We had just begun developing a few new colorways, one being our brand new Bright Love, a deliciously warm hot pink. We now have this new pop of color Bright Love in hand and with that, I knew the Lwcus hat was going to be good.
Here is Amy’s simple description of the Lwcus Hat and the name explanation:
"Hat is worked from the bottom up in the round with stranded color-work. The color work pattern is charted.
Lwcus is a Welsh word for lucky. It is pronounced like the name Lucas."
That’s all you really need to know. It is one size to fit most. I couldn’t put it down once I started. I used the same size needles as indicated in the pattern, US 3 and US 5 sixteen-inch circs and US 5 double-pointed needles.
Included in the Lwcus Hat Kits:
* Enough yarn to make one Lwcus Hat. There are two kit colorways from which to choose. The contrast colors are the same for both kit colorways, CC1 is Greenland (icy mint green), CC2 is Brink (our new delicious hot pink), and CC3 is October Road (heathered pumpkin orange). The main color choices are Loch (deep heathered teal) or Garland (forest green). The sample is made with Garland for the main color.
* 10 of our BWC ring stitch markers
* It all comes packed in our printed cotton project bag with an illustrated tag by Susan.

Best of all, the Lwcus Hat Kit is easy on the pocketbook. It's a quick(ish) little knit for pure fun! I added a 1-inch pom holding all of the colors together. You’ll have plenty of yarn to do this, too, if you like.
