If I had one pullover sweater that I would want you, my knitting friends, to make it would be this one! The Pheasant Pullover is an absolutely beautiful experience to knit. I made mine in our Home Fingering Weight, which is a beautiful, springy, yarn made from Climate Beneficial Wool (click here to find out more about this wonderful wool!). Amy Christophers is one of my favorite designers and has been for years. Her pattern writing is top-notch for clarity and attention to detail. She makes everything simple and the fit of her designs is simply the best. I wear my Pheasant Pullover constantly. I finished it quite a while ago and we were waiting on the yarn to be delivered to make the kits happen. Thank you to Amy for giving us permission to make kits with her gorgeous design.
Here is what Amy has to say about the Pheasant Pullover:
"The Pheasant Pullover is worked from the top down in the round. The neck is shaped with short rows. The stranded colorwork pattern is charted.
The body as shown is boxy and slightly cropped to wear layered over tunics and dresses however the fit is relaxed and if you prefer a more traditional unisex fit consider adding additional length to the body- the yardage estimate should accommodate an additional inch or so of length in the body but if you plan to add more then that please purchase additional yarn.”

I knit my pullover in the second size on US size 3 and 5 needles (as recommended in the pattern) and the fit is perfect. I don’t know why but I always knit lots of sweaters in the summer months. I guess I’m getting ready for the fall to return.
The Pheasant Pullover Kit includes enough Home Fingering Weight in the main color of Folkstone and four contrast colors, Strawflower, Field, Poppy and Ellie Grey. These colors work so well together and the colorwork yoke is entertaining and so pretty. This kit also includes a set of Small Ring Stitch Markers at no additional cost.
Please note that the largest five sizes include full skeins of some of the contrast colors as the pattern yarn requirements are listed. The smallest three sizes include all partial skeins for the contrast colors. The pricing of the sweater kits reflects these yarn requirements from Amy.
