Birds are always a sweet and happy reminder of seasons, the robin’s first chirp in the spring, geese honking in the fall, and the summer’s cheerful chorus of birds. This happy little set of a simple bird with a perfectly sized nest and a trio of tiny eggs is perfect for gifting and for little ones’ imaginative play.
Today we are proudly introducing Making Magazine No. 9 / Simple and my new pattern inside, Simple Little Bird & Nest and a gorgeous kit to go along with it all. The kit includes our Woolens yarn, a woolen spun sport weight, in four gorgeous and subtle colorways. The kit includes enough Woolens to make three birds, three nests and at least nine eggs and black yarn for the eyes.
And, excitingly enough we have another addition to the Simple Little Bird Kits by the one and only Alison Kaplan of Kata Golda! She has created the sweetest little hand-stitched wool felt scissor slips that go along beautifully with the colors in our new kit. The little scissors in the tiny felt cozy will help you make your little birds and nests and eggs so tidy as you work. You will love these. Thank you, Alison, for your beautiful, thoughtful work. Don’t miss out on these as the amount available is limited. You can add a set to your kit purchase if you like!
The pattern for the Simple Little Bird & Nest is ONLY available in Making No. 9 / Simple right now. If you purchase the kit you will need to purchase the magazine along with it to access the pattern. In about six months from now the pattern will be available for individual purchase via Ravelry or on Barrett Wool Co.
I have to tell you that Making No. 9 is just a beautiful magazine. It is one of my favorite so far. Making Magazine is truly a collector’s item and the issues are worthy of a spot on your bookshelf. I refer to my issues often and honestly, I feel like the issues contain some of my best work. I have projects in all nine issues and I feel really good about that.
We have most all of the back issues of Making available in the Mercantile right now so if interested you might like to round out your collection.
The Making No. 9 / Simple magazine is also available for individual purchase in the Mercantile. Click here to check it out!
