Today I am happy to talk about my new sock pattern and the super cool hand-dyed sock yarn we have to put in our gorgeous kits. I am back into sock knitting big time. If you are newer here you may not know that sock knitting has always been one of my biggest passions, and I am feeling extra passionate about this current sock project. We have acquired some beautiful superwash 80% Merino wool / 20% nylon sock yarn that is buttery soft and delicious to knit. We have had this yarn hand-dyed with eight carefully curated colorways, and twisted into 25-gram mini-skeins for us locally here in Wisconsin. When I got the mini-skeins I couldn’t wait to get the new socks on my needles. The entire process has been so lovely.
The eight beautifully hand-dyed colors look like a bouquet when all together. In the end, I have created some fun mix-and-match scrappy socks for you to make your own. The sock construction is as simple as it comes. The construction is cuff-down, heel flap, and turn, and with a standard toe that is grafted together at the end.
I got three fun pairs of socks out of the 8 mini-skeins (which are included in the kit!) with hardly any left at the end. Two of the pairs I made are the This or That Socks, one sock with the striped cuff and the other in matching colors but with the stripes at the toe. The full stripey pair used one mini-skein for the cuffs, heels, and toes for both socks and then I just did 6 round stripes for the rest of the sock. It’s all explained in the pattern for you.
The pattern is written for double-pointed needles but you can use any needle method you prefer, magic loop, short circular needles, two short circular needles, etc. There are instructions for three sizes included in the pattern. I make the size medium for my US women’s 7.5 shoe size.
Once these sock kits are gone, they are gone!
As a side note, the mini-skein set would also be good to add to any socks you are knitting for contrasting cuffs, heels, and toes. The yarn would fit in with any superwash sock yarn you are using.
