I hope you all had a good week. We are ending with a bang around here.
We are thrilled to announce our newest pattern release, Vidar, by the one and only Tanis Gray! I have known Tanis for about 10 years now, first meeting her in New York City where she was an editor for Vogue Knitting and other Soho Publishing magazines. Since then we have always stayed in touch and I consider her a dear knitting friend. She is the author of many beautiful knitting books, and she has designed so many fantastic projects spanning over many genres, and she is also a Craftsy instructor.

Tanis is an expert on colorwork and I love her color choices and pattern creation. When I asked if she would design something for Barrett Wool Co. she asked if I would want some colorwork hats and of course, I said yes!
Today is the first of several Tanis Gray designs for Barrett Wool Co. and I absolutely love it. Vidar (pronounced Vee-dar) and it comes from Norse mythology. One definition of Vidar that I found in Norse is: Tree Fighter. The name Vidar suits the hat perfectly, it is a strong and graphic design.
The hat is knit with 2 contrasting skeins of our Home Worsted Weight. The sample is knit in the colors Peppercorn and Field. It's a beautiful combination. There are so many contrasting color combinations of Home Worsted Weight that would work well.
The hat starts at the brim with a corrugated rib and moves into the stranded colorwork for the body. The entire hat is charted, with a few written instructions, which makes it so simple from start to finish. This is truly my favorite type of hat pattern. The pattern is so clear and easy to read. You'll love it and it will fly off the needles.
